Aongatete Forest Restoration Project

Location of Project JanszoonThe aim of the project is to restore the wildlife and plant life to a part of the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park.

Location

Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park, between Tauranga and Katikati.

Area

480 hectares is controlled for stoats and 370 hectares for ship rats and possums.

Organisations involved

The project was set up in 2006 by Tauranga Forest and Bird and the Katikati Rotary Club and is supported Bay of Plenty Regional Council, DOC,  local volunteers, landowners and Ngai Tamawhariua.
